Combatting Erectile Dysfunction
Men using erectile dysfunction (ED) pharmacueticals used to achieve temporary erections for sexual activity, but show no help in the treatment of chronic endothelial dysfunction, one the major activators behind ED. In reality, many men over age 40 are unaware of the connection between ED and vascular disease. What happens is a man above age 40 will seek a solution for his ED, and not understand the risk he takes when he ingests so many of an ED prescription. The side effects of the ED prescription drugs are astounding, ranging form indigestion, flushing, blurred vision, hearing loss, and headache to more serious health problems such as neurological disorders and heart attacks to name a few. Are these risks worth having an erection for one night of fun?
Researchers have been meticulously studying this issue and have come up with a natural way to manage males’ erectile dysfunction. Using a blend of compounds: Pycogenol®, L-arginine aspartate, and icariin; researchers have found that when the blend of the three are used together, they produce higher levels of nitric oxide, which are crucial when having an erection. Pycogenol® is responsible for increasing the stimulation of the production of nitric oxide in the blood; L-arginine is the amino acid, which naturally produces nitric oxide, and icariin, which blocks the enzyme responsible for erections subsiding. This natural way of increasing erectile function has been shown to increase fertility and endothelial health, unlike the FDA approved prescription ED drugs which only block the enzyme, which causes erections to subside with no health benefits whatsoever.
Soy and Estrogen: The Truth Revealed
Some soy-based compounds have a molecular structure which almost mirrors the molecular structure of the estrogen molecule. This is controversial when it comes to certain cancers and other problems caused by hormonal imbalance.
Isoflavones from soy are antioxidant polyphenols, which are based in plant compounds. They are considered to be “dietary estrogen” since they are similar in molecular structure to the female sex hormone, estradiol. The way in which soy isoflavones mimic estrogenic molecules has led doctors and scientists to classify them as “weak estrogen” molecules. THIS IS NOT TRUE!
The influence of estrogen is exerted upon cells directly through estrogen receptors. The only known receptor, ER-Alpha ( estrogen receptor alpha), has been implicated in various forms of cancer ranging from breast cancer to colon cancer. In the late 1990s, discovery found another receptor known as ER-beta. It has been shown in tests to actually counteract the effects which are caused by ER-Alpha. One of the most abundant isoflavones, genistein, has been found to be a potent activator of ER-Beta.
The actions of isoflavones upon estrogen receptors is criticized because without realizing the effects of the different estrogen receptors. Contact Carolyn, the owner of Natural Choices for further information.
Calories: Adversary or Enemy
Studies say that almost 30 million Americans age 20 and up are at a crucial crossroads in life. Excessive caloric intake is taking control and beginning to play with their life and longevity without their knowledge.
Though appearing thin and fit looking on the outside, and even when dieting and exercising properly, they still are probably taking in too many calories than they should.
The research conducted via the Mayo Clinic revealed that people are still at risk and susceptible to deadly consequences:
- Four-fold higher rates of metabolic syndrome in later life.
- Increased cardiovascular disease risk.
- Blood lipid abnormalities in men and women.
- Hypertension in men.
- Double the risk of cardiac death in women.
The main dilemma with taking in too many calories is the fact that this practice hastens the pathological aging process. A way to stimulate genes, which favor youthful physiological traits, is caloric restriction, or CR. What caloric restriction can do is slow the pathological aging process, which in turn lengthens longevity and overall personal health.
Calorie restriction mimetics are a handful of nutrients which stimulate the beneficial aspects of CR without the need for harsh dieting practices.
